Celebrating Culture, Community and Compassion: Mela Punjabi Mutiyaran Da Raises $1100 for SARA for Women

This June, the vibrant sounds of Punjabi music and the rich tapestry of tradition came alive at Mela Punjabi Mutiyaran Da, a heartfelt cultural celebration hosted by Jee Aayan Nu Organization. Spearheaded by two passionate and dedicated women, Sunita and Seema, the event brought together community members to honor the strength, spirit, and beauty of Punjabi women.

Jee Aayan Nu, which means “You are most welcome” in Punjabi, reflects the organization’s commitment to creating a warm, inclusive space where culture and community flourish.

But the Mela was about more than just celebration—it was about giving back. Sunita and Seema, moved by a desire to support an organization that champions diversity, inclusion, and women's empowerment, chose to donate proceeds from the event to SARA for Women Society. Their efforts raised an inspiring $1100 to help support SARA's crucial work in providing safety and support to women facing violence, poverty, and oppression.

The event was graced by the presence of City Councillor Kelly Chahal, whose support further underscored the power of community collaboration.

“Mela Punjabi Mutiyaran Da,” and its sister event, “Mela Punjaban Da,” are more than just festivals—they are expressions of cultural pride and community care. Jee Aayan Nu Organization continues to lead with heart, bringing people together not just to celebrate, but to make a meaningful difference.

We are incredibly grateful to Sunita, Seema, and everyone who participated and donated. Your generosity is helping to create a safer, more supportive world for women across our community.
