Ruth’s Story
More than nine years ago, Ruth* came to SARA for Women seeking safety and support for herself and her two young children. She was leaving an abusive partner after enduring years of verbal, physical, emotional, and financial abuse. The separation wasn’t easy, especially with the legal challenges she faced.
SARA Empowering Families
At SARA, we are committed to walking alongside women and families as they rebuild their lives after experiencing violence. This spring, we’re introduced two new programs at our Second Stage Housing sites, both designed to support healing, strengthen parenting skills, and foster long-term stability.
Christine’s Story
“Christine”, a mother of four, found herself trapped in an abusive relationship.
Overwhelmed and desperate for a way out, she finally sought help through a treatment program, knowing it was her only chance to reclaim her life and her children’s future.
50th Anniversary Celebration
On May 28, we gathered at The Reach Gallery in Abbotsford to mark a powerful milestone: 50 years of service, support, and standing up against intimate partner violence. Our 50th anniversary event was not only a celebration of SARA for Women's legacy, but also a poignant reminder of the work that still lies ahead.
This spring, in partnership with Moon Healing Center, we offered something special for the women in our transition homes: two deeply restorative Sound Bath Healing Sessions.
For many, these sessions became more than a chance to relax. They were a moment of connection and emotional support.
